The firm was built on a simple idea: a family or a business should not need a different lawyer for every legal moment in their life. Two partners lead the practice, and their strengths cover opposite ends of the legal spectrum. One has litigated in Ontario courts since 1978 and sits as a Deputy Judge of the Ontario Small Claims Court. The other holds an LL.M. in tax law from Osgoode Hall and runs the business, corporate, and tax side. Between the two, a client’s legal life rarely needs to leave the building.

What is a barrister and solicitor?
In Ontario, every licensed lawyer is called to the bar as both a barrister and a solicitor. Barrister refers to courtroom work, arguing cases before judges. Solicitor refers to office work, contracts, wills, real estate closings, and legal advice. The title on our door, barristers and solicitors, means the firm does both, and has since 1978.

How do fees and billing work?
Fees depend on the type of matter, and we explain the structure before you commit to anything. Real estate and wills typically run on a known basis. Litigation depends on the fight. Either way, the conversation about cost happens at the start, in plain terms, and never as a surprise partway through.
Do I need to know what kind of lawyer I need before I call?
No. Describing the situation is enough, and matters often cross categories anyway. A separation involves a house. An estate involves a business. Because this firm practises across all of it, you will not be bounced between specialists to get one matter handled.
